Attending Social Media Marketing World – through the Eyes of Others

By Paul Gillin March 23, 2015 I sure would like to be at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego March 25-27, 2015 (who in the northern part of the country wouldn’t right now?), but client engagements always come first in a startup. So my colleagues and I are going to further our own social media education by participating virtually. In lieu of soaking in the Southern California sun, our executives and coaches have dedicated themselves to following the event this week through the eyes and ears of real attendees. Meerkat Vs. Periscope – My Experience

Since live streaming videos has taken its stride, two main applications are battling for this new space on Twitter: Periscope and Meerkat. There have been a lot of blogs and articles on both applications and which one is better. So, I decided to test out both of them to see for myself. Broadcast Topic I decided to broadcast my evening boxing workout to the world. I figured I could help promote the UFC gym I belong to and also provide some type of entertainment for the viewers that joined. I chose this specifically after taking a look at what people were broadcasting. Meerkat The application doesn’t allow for a lot of options for broadca…

Basics of Evernote

A yellow pad and a pen (or better yet, a pencil) have been a part of my entire career. I didn’t feel I could focus clearly without a pen in my hand - you never know when you might need to capture a note. Fast forward to 2012 when I launched my own business. The yellow pads started multiplying on my desk and soon I couldn’t find the notes I had taken - there were just too many. I  knew I had to make a change. I tried Evernote, a note management application, in the past, but I didn’t find it very self explanatory and couldn’t figure out how to use it.I abandoned it. It’s a classic case of “you don’t know what you don’t know.…

It is much better to have a small and active following that is engaged and passed relevant information rather than a large following that shares garbage. To achieve such a quality following, you can do these steps: Know who the scammers are Scammers are accounts that try and follow as many people as possible, regardless of relevance, in order to build their own following.  When someone decides to follow you, check their profile to see how many people they are following.…
